A couple of years ago I was hiking in the Santa Rosa mountains near Palm Springs, CA. I came across the wreck in which Richard Haffner, Donald Leeper, and John Cooper perished in 1956. I am grateful for this site, as I could never find any information prior to this!Jill (Jackson) Pulos

I had a post on 18, Nov. 2010 that said I was looking for some of my squadron mates. Since then I went to SPOKEO.COM and typed in D. Waring. It immediately came up with many many hits. I didn\'t think Don lived in the south or the east so I ignored them. I checked into Iowa. It had many also. But, it had a listing for Donald P. Waring. I hadn\'t entered his middle initial so I suspected that may be him. I dialed the number provided and GUESS WHAT? It was him. He is the aircrewman I had written about in \"The Peacetime Years\" on our website. He was also the one who survived a midair collision just a week after I had been flown off the Lexington for discharge. My old pilot LTjg Ron Smith sheared the tail off his and Mr. Snyders plane. He hadn\'t heard a word either from or about the squadron since his discharge. We had a nice visit. He lives in Hinton Iowa. I recommend SPOKEO.COM for looking for some of your old shipmates. Daughter of Brady D Jackson
My father is Brady D Jackson. He is a very Proud Veteran of the Navy. Please excuse my lingo, I am not educated in the terms of the Navy, but my Father is the proudest man of his time spent in the Navy and he has always loved keeping in touch with the men he served with and to be connected to this web site of Great Men who have served our Country.
This past year he has been having many serious falls and was having a very hard time walking. He went from walking with a cane to 2 canes, to a walker to a wheel chair. He got to the point where my Mother was having to bathe him, and do practically everything for him. My brother and sister in law took him to the ER and they did a bunch of tests on him, but said well, nothing medically justifies admitting him. It was very aggravating. My husband has been going over there to help get my Dad into the car to go anywhere. My Mother no longer could do it. Then they release a man who can not even walk!
We finally got him to the Dr and he ordered an MRI on his spine. And we got him into my pain management Dr. to help with his pain. That night my Mom called us, and needed our help. As soon as we got there I called 911.
Long story short, our Dad was miss diagnosed with having 2 strokes, when he actually had a fast growing glioblastoma Brain tumor, and it is non removable because of the area it is in. Devastating to say the least.
He is in St Johns Mercy hospital room 320 in St Louis, Mo. He is receiving Radiation and he is not yet strong enough to receive chemotherapy.
Please pray for him, and if possible, pass this on to his fellow Navy brothers. Word from anyone here would lift his spirits immensely.
I do not know if there are any Navy Vet\'s in St. Louis but it would be a blessing if they could visit him.
My name is Jill Pulos, my phone number is 314-255-3034
Thank You

My uncle \"Bud\", was actually Cdr. E.V.Wedell of VA (AW)-35 Oct. 1957. Anyone out there have any stories or history concerning him? I\'d love to hear from you. Thanks.Alan English
My father Addison Ramsel English served in VC 35 VAN 3. I believe from 9 Nov 50 to 29 May 51. He was assigned with Metzner and Clapp to the raid on Hwachon Dam with VA-195 and was awarded a Distinguished Flying Cross. He made a career as a Navy Aviator. He went on to fly jets then back to Skyraiders and then to desks at the Pentagon with OPNAV. He retired as a Captain. He died 29 July 96 and is buried at Arlington in the section just west of the section with the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial. Rodger Carter
Dear Sirs, I have recently purchased a camera on eBay with the following attached plaque: Captain F.L. Bates USN, Presented by The officers and Men of Fleet Allweather Training Unit Pacific, July 1957.
I have been attempting to research information on Capt Bates and have found two possible references: 1) a Navy Cross award to Lt JG F. L. Bates for bravery during the Air Battle of Midway; and 2) a Lt Cmdr F. L Bates of Air group 37, TG 53.6 Carrier Group.
\\Can you say whether those two references are to the same Captain F. L. Bates? Do you have any other information concerning Captain Bates?
Thanks, Rodger Carter

We love this website. It has been very helpful for our members. Also, our members tell us that our website is the best place for veterans to find information about compensation, pension and benefits for veterans. We have been told that VSOs now recommend that veterans visit our website first before filing a claim. Veterans learn about the process, who to see, where to go, and how to maximize their disability claims. Visit today!

I served with no notable distinction in VA(AW)-35 from September 1957 to May 1960, except in the waning days of that period I was next door in VAW-11. I served on Ranger from Norfolk around South America to San Francisco in '58; Later, to the Western Pacific in '59. I have reservations in Corpus Christi in October '08. I hope to see many friends and acquaintances there, especially, Lee Harvey McGarvey formerly of DuBois, PA, a close friend who doesn't remember me at all, thus proving my service without distinction.dale eddie edmondson
