VC-35/VA(AW)-35

Dedication ceremonies on board the USS Yorktown (CV-10) on 9 November 2007 featured the addition of 30 veteran aircrewman to the Enlisted Combat Aircrewman Hall of Honor. These thirty veterans who served as Navy, Marine and Coast Guard airmen in World War II, the Korean War or Vietnam War will have their names added to this prestigious Roll of Honor at the tenth ceremony Friday, November 9th at 11:00 am on board the Yorktown. These Veterans will join their fellow Roll of Honorees bringing the membership for this group of veterans to 869. In addition to these inductees, nearly 200 family and friends from 23 states attended the ceremony and preceeding evening reception on Thursday, November 8th at 7:00 pm.

Among those inducted this past year was one from our own Composite Squadron Thirty-five. JACK L. WIGLEY of VAN Team 19 and VAN Team 26. Jack joined VC-35 on 7-17-51 and departed the squadron on 5-27-54. Jack flew his thirty seven combat missions during the Korean War while on board the USS Philippine Sea (CVA 15) with VAN 19. LT Patrick Sullivan was his pilot and John Trotter AT1/CA the other crewman. He made his second cruise on board the USS Randolph (CVA 47) with VAN Team 26. The crew on that detachment, that made the only VC-35 Mediterranean Cruise, was LT Harvey Patton and George Shaw AN/CA.
